Sara, an animated series15-year-old Sara is a charismatic heroine living in rural Africa. Like many girls of her age, she faces insurmountable socio-cultural and economic obstacles in her desire to reach her goals in life.
But rather than being presented as a victim who evokes pity and sympathy, Sara emphasises the potential of girls. The mood and style of the series is comedy, the lessons are poignant and relevant for the current generation.
Africa Animated! has been identified by UNICEF as a privileged partner for the executive production of new upcoming episodes of the Sara series.
The ‘Tunza’ series of children’s books published by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) is very effective in communicating environmental issues to children. Clear and easy text combines with beautiful pastel illustrations to deliver a captivating read.
UNEP and Africa Animated! have joined forces to work on the adaptation of the books into an equivalent series of animated short films, in order to allow it to reach a wider audience. The objective is to rework the stories in the same spirit and bring them to life via animation.
